Oil & Petrol Separators and Grease Traps are used to prevent grease and solids entering wastewater disposal systems and potentially contaminating groundwater sources used for drinking water and other human use. They are an effective and affordable primary source of removing oil and petrol and larger suspended solids from wastewater. Installing these separators and traps are predominantly done by commercial and industrial businesses that include petrol stations, car washes, machine shops and car dealers which produce oily water runoff.
Oil & Petrol Separators work on the principle that oil, gas and water have different densities, allowing them to separate as they pass through. Gas on top, oil/petrol in the middle and water on the bottom. Any solids such as sand settle at the bottom of the separator.
